August 2008

I just read that Scouting has its own TV show currently running on the “Outdoor Channel” which is channel 49 on the Jackson cable system.  The show is called “Scouting for Adventure” and here is the link to its web site:  http://www.outdoorchannel.com/Shows/ScoutingForAdventure.aspx

The show is on on Wednesdays at 8:30 am and 6:30 pm also on Saturdays at 2:00 pm. The promo video is about scuba diving and looks interesting.  There is also information on the Councils web site at:

This past Friday night and Saturday was the Jackson Co. Relay for Life. Members of Troop 48 supported the fund raiser in different ways including performing with the Jackson High School Band and serving as the color guard for the opening ceremonies. This years relay set a new record for funds raised to help fight cancer.  The picture below was taken by Asst. Scout Master Mark of Andrew and Josh who served as the color guard.

Monday August 11th we will be having Board of Reviews and Scoutmaster Conferences. If you need these for advancement and have not talked to Scoutmaster Charlie Bowman then do so soon so you can get on the schedule.

Monday the 18th school starts so we will start back with our regular meeting schedule.

Monday 25th is the Court of Honor, see earlier post for details.

I have finished uploading new pictures to the troops web site from both week 1 and week 6. Week 6 pictures include several pictures of the storm damage and the clean up especially in Mohawk camp site where we were staying. Here are the links:
