Biggest problem – Frozen Boots

Although I have not talked to any one after the campout and hike they may have set a new cold weather record for the troop. The temperature when I left them at 8:00 on Friday evening was between 3 and 5 above zero. If any one wants to e-mail me a report or pictures I will post it. Follow this link to see the pictures I took on Friday as they were setting up.

Folks

I just found out that Chris Anderson (Max’s  uncle) who is a Troop 48 Eagle Scout (1989) and has served as an Asst. Scoutmaster with the troop for the past few years will be getting married in Mexico on January 17th.  I have added a picture of Chris taken at the 2001 National Scout Jamboree where he and I served on the Amateur Radio Staff.  On behalf of Troop 48 I want to wish Chris and his bride the very best even though he is skipping the Old Man’s Cave Winter Hike and campout.

Hey guess what, it’s that time of year again.  On Friday January the 16th the Troop will be leaving from the Church at 5:00 pm for Old Man’s Cave and the Winter Hike. We have reserved campsite G3 and are hoping for winter weather. On Saturday we will hike from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave. Remember to bring money to cover a donation for lunch at Ceader Falls and for the bus ride from Ash Cave back to Old Man’s Cave as well as any patches you may want to purchase. Here are a couple pictures from the 2002 winter hike. Recognize any one?
