I have posted Jeff’s pictures from the event.

Buckeye Furnace Pictures

From Simon Kenton Council:  Boy Scouts still wanting to go to the 2010 National Jamboree? We still have openings! Contact blogue@skcbsa.org.

Now that Apple Festival activities are over we will be getting back to our regular meeting routine. Our next outing will be on Oct 30th and 31st. We will be camping at Buckeye Furnace which is located off of St. Rt. 124 east of Berlin Cross Roads.  They are having their annual celebration and we will be assisting with parking cars for the event.  The day will not be all work and no play though as there will be plenty of time for every one to enjoy all of the various activities going on.  Current plans call for the troop to depart the church at 5:00 p.m. on Friday the 30th and return on on the evening of Saturday the 31st. All food will be furnished by the troop but you should bring anything special you might want to eat or drink.  The gift shop will be open and there will possibly be other places to spend money so you might want a little pocket money.  More information will be announced at troop meetings as it becomes available.

Well I have posted additional pictures to the Summer Camp 09 page and have posted pictures of this weekends raft trip on the new river.  Thanks to Jeff for providing these.  Enjoy

Although I am not with them I have been watching and the radar shows that the troop probably got some rain last evening and during the night. But the rain appears to have moved on through and they are starting their day with a breakfast that includes biscuits and gravy so it can’t get much better than that.  The river came up from about 4′ to 4.6′ over night but this is still well within the fun range. Keep watcing for pictures as I get them…

This picture from the raft trip in 2005 kind of reminds you of a train ride at Kings Island but after that the simularities end and for the record the trip that year was great.  For those signed up to go the final word on the trip is plan to meet at 6:30 am on Saturday and depart promptly at 7:00. If you are running late meet us at Wendys in Oak Hill West Virginia! After an early lunch we will proceed to the river, assemble and load the rafts while moving the vehicles down to the take out point with the assistance of a local friend. After putting in we will travel down river to about the half way point were we will pitch camp for the night.  Plan on a great nights sleep with the sound of the river in the back ground.  Sunday, breakfast and break camp. Travel on down to the take out point where we will break down and unpack the rafts. Supper will be once again in Oak Hill Wva. followed by the drive home.   We normally get back in to Jackson between 8:00 and 9:00 pm. “Be Prepared” for a great weekend….

New River 2006024

The dates have been finalized and they are July 25 & 26, 2009.  We will be meeting on Monday July 6th at 7:00 to start planning for this trip.  Any one interested in going needs to attend and let us know. The amount of food, number of rafts and amount of equipment is determined by the number of folks going.

Every one had different schedules so the plan currently is to provide your own transportation.  If you need a ride contact Charlie or Jeff as they may have room. Plans call for work to begin at 8:00 am.  Bring drinks and lunch with you and plan on a busy day.
