A 10,600-acre site beside the New River Gorge National River will become the permanent home of the Boy Scouts of America’s National Jamboree starting in 2013.  The sight will also be home to a high-adventure base and summer camp which will open in 2014.

Although I am not with them I have been watching and the radar shows that the troop probably got some rain last evening and during the night. But the rain appears to have moved on through and they are starting their day with a breakfast that includes biscuits and gravy so it can’t get much better than that.  The river came up from about 4′ to 4.6′ over night but this is still well within the fun range. Keep watcing for pictures as I get them…

The next meeting will be on July 20, 2009, normal time and place, and will be the last meeting before the raft trip.  This will be a great time to answer last minute questions about gear or packing.  Also if you want your gear or packing method checked bring it along.
